About Pickleball

Why Pickleball?

Pickleball is much easier to pick up than tennis or squash, which allows beginners to get into the game quickly. Many first-timers are able to play their first match after just 20–30 minutes of training.

Pickleball is a social sport. Playing with others helps build communities and make new friends.

It’s a great way to stay active, connect with people, and boost your well-being. You can burn up to 600 kcal in just one hour of play. Pickleball can be played both indoors and outdoors.

Pickleball is much more affordable than tennis, which is often seen as an elite sport. You don’t need to rent an expensive court – you can play on any hard surface: in a gym, on a playground, even on a closed-off street. Just chalk the lines, set up a portable net – and you’re ready to play!

Pickleball is suitable for people of all ages. It’s easier and less physically demanding than tennis or squash, with a lower risk of injury. In the U.S., it was seniors who first fell in love with the sport, but today it’s growing fastest among young people aged 19–24. In recreational pickleball, it’s completely normal to see kids playing with retirees, or women teaming up with men.

Studies in the U.S. show that the number one reason people play Pickleball is enjoyment. Physical activity and competition come second.
